Growth In North American PCB Orders Pushed Up The Order Shipment Ratio In August

On October 10, 2017, the United States Illinois bannockburn ® - IPC - international electronics industry join association recently released in August 2017 in North America, PCB industry survey report.Orders rose to 1.15 from a year earlier in August, the report showed.
Total PCB shipments in North America in August 2017, down 0.6% from the same month in 2016.Year-to-date shipments are still down 4.0% from a year earlier.Shipments rose 3.1 percent in August compared with last month.
In August 2017, north American PCB orders increased by 17.2% compared with the same period last year.Orders so far this year were 4.0% higher than the same period last year.Orders were up 3.6% compared with last month.
"PCB orders in North America have been growing strongly in recent months, but sales have been negative, pushing order shipments to a 12-year high of 1.15," said Sharon Starr, director of market research at IPC.The rapid growth of flexible circuit boards and strong demand from the military aerospace market are two main drivers.The order/shipment ratio has been above the equilibrium for seven months in a row, signaling a recovery in sales at the end of the year.
